The Shallow Parser (a.k.a. Chunker) identifies the shallow parse structure (phrase structure) in a sentence. The shallow parse structure gives non-overlapping phrase boundaries comparable to the leaves of a full parse tree.
There are two versions of our Shallow Parser: version 1.0 is trainable, given suitably tagged input. Version 1.1 is a read-only version that is simpler to use.
